North County Benefits

Our smart growth and zero-carbon community responsibly adds needed housing supply while benefitting North County with new amenities and public services.

Input from County planning officials and the public helped us improve the new Lilac Hills Ranch plan, which incorporates all recommendations from County staff and the planning commission and is expected to be heard by the Board of Supervisors on a future date.

This is a meaningfully better plan from all previous versions of the project and is led by a new group of decision makers, including a new ownership group and project manager.

It is obvious that the region needs new housing. This project builds new homes in a sustainable way and includes the highest environmental and public safety protections that will benefit my family and friends in North County.

Having worked on many successful master planned communities for most of my career as a land planner and landscape architect; the Lilac Hills Ranch master plan represents one of the best communities that I have seen in a very long time.  The plan raises the bar for sustainable community design with open space preservation, walkable neighborhoods and town center, community gardens, and landscaped parkways/parks that not only achieve a high esthetic, but also are water conserving.

The new Lilac Hills Ranch offers something for everyone, including working families and seniors. It’s exactly the type of community our region needs to help resolve our growing housing crisis.

The new Lilac Hills Ranch meets the highest fire protection standards in San Diego County. It also strengthens emergency response capabilities in North County with millions of dollars in new funding and expanded fire service.

I’ve been really impressed with the approach Lilac Hills Ranch takes to conservation, especially in terms of water. The new Lilac Hills Ranch will actually use less water once the project is completed than what the site currently uses.

San Diego North Economic Development Council (EDC) has stated on many occasions that San Diego County is experiencing a housing shortage so severe that companies planning on relating to this area are thinking twice due to the housing shortage for their workers.  Projects like Lilac Hills Ranch include a wide range of housing types, meaningful amenities and a desirable location for people who can commute to jobs in North County, Escondido, the Coast and San Diego.
