An Answer to Our Housing Crisis

The region is suffering from an acute shortage of housing, which highly impacts our workforce and middle-income population. This has the young leaving San Diego, has its seniors with no place to go and our work force scrambling to pay ever-higher rental costs. The answer is to build more housing, where it belongs, at a price most people can afford.

- February 2018 letter to the editor by local leaders
Located in the county-identified growth corridor along the I-15, and anchored by the first carbon-neutral Village in San Diego County, the new Lilac Hills Ranch is ideally situated for working families who commute to jobs in North County, Escondido and San Diego.

Sixty thousand of them drive down Interstate 15 every day from Riverside County because they can’t afford a home in San Diego County, and many of them drive right past the new Lilac Hills Ranch. Developers in Riverside are targeting San Diego homebuyers and more of them will move to Riverside, generating more traffic and air pollution and reducing our tax base, if we do not build homes for working families.

With homes starting in the $300,000s, the new Lilac Hills Ranch will make a significant contribution to attainable housing supply and help address our region’s growing housing crisis.
The project is consistent with the principles, goals, and policies of the County’s General Plan.
